What is the duration of the procedure?
Laparoscopy usually takes 30–90 minutes, while hysteroscopy takes 5–30 minutes.
What type of anaesthesia is used?
Both procedures are performed under general or local anaesthesia.
What precautions should be taken after hysteroscopy?
Always prefer medical help for any precautions or take regular paracetamols. You may also have some bleeding or blood spots, for up to a week. Use pads, not tampons. Avoid exercise or having sex until the pain and bleeding have stopped.
What are the activities that need to be avoided?
You may resume your normal daily activities. You may find that you tire more easily as a result of surgery and anaesthesia. It is best to avoid strenuous activity or sports for about a week after surgery, although there are no specific restrictions on activity.
